BREAKFAST SALAD

with summer finally here, the warm spouts intermingling with great bursts of rain have been more than welcome to the growing berries around us. the great domestic patch pictured above granted us the wonderful bounty pictured below (with more to come), though the nearby wild mulberries have already been picked as clean as they're gonna grow for this year. also an exciting find to catch a few patches of black raspberries just starting to color!

needless to say, breakfasts are getting more colorful and nutrient-dense. we've also discovered that the forms our new morning salads have taken are really just a whole version of our usual smoothie standard (sans the granola in some cases).

calm down, yes those are raw greens chopped up in the middle of a bunch of fruit. for those who aren't afraid of ruffage with their breakfast, be sure to investigate a wonderful plant called "sorrel" ... a rich & crunchy green reminiscent in texture to that of spinach, but with a brilliant lemon-y bite. not at all uncommon to include in the smoothie form, though wonderfully pleasing as a decadent whole just the same.

dressing is just nuts, oil & yerba mate (cinnamon & cherry concentrate make for great additions, too).

WHOLE-PROTEIN PILAF

while most average consumers are being snowed into believing their understanding of nutrient absorption is vast just because kelloggs decided to put "OMEGA 3" on every single package they throw on a shelf, the issue of veg-heads maintaining a necessary protein intake is still one of the first to come out of an idiot mouth hoping to downplay such a dietary choice in a feeble display of wagging genitals. since most are that concerned about our survival (despite harboring an apathetic snarl throughout the conversation), be at ease ... for homo sapiens, a combination of whole grains & legumes (or seeds, for that matter) provides a more complete and usable protein than could be found in the best cuts of whatever adorable animal might be served.

here are a couple variations, as this is the most common dinner here at Samadhi ...

since complete proteins provide the necessary amino acids to break food down for means to fully grasp the nutrients found therein, combining this pilaf with fresh & fermented vegetables allows the body to keep such a relationship in total symbiosis ... wonderful arrays of essential vitamins and minerals become an overflowing meal instead of a chalky pill you've come to loathe having to take every morning. transform into evolve.
